During episode 2, Brad and I discuss the way that WordPress 3.7 and 3.8 is being developed as “feature plugins”, as well as going in-depth with what some of the planned new features are. We also take a few minutes to walk through how we built the Apply Filters site, the theme and plugins used and the amount of time we spent on it. Lastly we discuss some of our own contributions to WordPress core and our experiences with those contributions.

Hey guys,
Great show.
Pippin, you mentioned that you do all of your development in MultiSite. I know you’re primarily a plugin dev, but how would you approach exporting a single site for migration to a production server?
There are two really excellent options:
WP Migrate DB Pro: https://deliciousbrains.com/wp-migrate-db-pro/
BackupBuddy: https://ithemes.com/purchase/backupbuddy/
I’ve move a few sites with WP Clone (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-clone-by-wp-academy/) and it was super easy. However, my experience was not with multisite.
He he… I didn’t realize that WP Migrate DB Pro was Brad’s until I listened. I am sure it is superior.
It is pretty fantastic.
Since you talked about submitting patches for core and the time it takes to review and test these contributions it would be great if you would talk about Git(Hub) vs SVN+Trac and/or what you think about pull requests and build tests (via travis CI).
Keep up the good work.
That’s a great idea.
FYI, the link to the dispatch theme is broken.
Great podcast, very much enjoyed.
Whoops! Here’s the working link: https://okaythemes.com/themes/dispatch-wordpress-theme/
Love the show, thanks for doing it. One idea, that I really liked from the first show would be going to a shorter format. I would love it if you kept the show under 30 minutes… I like shorter shows. If you keep it short, concise, I think you will be happy with the results too.
That was our original plan. This episode went a bit longer than we planned and we ended up having to discuss how to keep ourselves on track 🙂
Great episode and thanks for the shout out about Ninja Forms. Honored to have you using it at all much less anything else. 🙂
Looking forward to future episodes.
I just updated the show notes with a link to the JSON REST API by Ryan McCue that we mentioned during the show. 🙂
