  1. Awesome first episode. The Heartbeat API bit was very interesting.

I like how you guys discuss performance considerations. Not enough devs focus on performance.

      Thanks, Doug.

Performance often gets ignored until a problem arises, but it really needs to be a focus from step one.

  2. Glad to see the first podcast come out so soon! I really enjoyed it, very informative and insightful! I’m not a developer but just build websites enough that these things are of interest to me. I’m always glad to learn why certain browsers don’t support other items as well, and in this case instead of possibly being a bit upset with Firefox not supporting .mp4, now I understand completely which is a business/smart thing.

I still have yet to dive into Easy Digital downloads, but I expect to soon because I can see how much there is a need for it with an awesome amount of solutions for virtually everything I can think of. That time will arise for me soon.

In regard to WP Migrate DB Pro:
I agree, this plugin is awesome! I was always loving the WordPress.org “Duplicator” plugin by “Life in the Grid”. The problem I ran into though was some hosting servers limit the duplicator plugin from processing to create a zipped package if that process runs too long. So, I couldn’t create a duplicated website package on some hosts depending on the website’s size. But, as soon as John from Seed Prod recommend WP Migrate DB Pro, I wanted it! And it has been completely awesome since! So easy and quick. Hopefully finding solutions, eventually migrating media items would just be phenomenal. Support has been great as well, because I needed a tweak for my migrations and it was no sweat after contacting support.

I’m looking forward to the next podcast! It’s nice because I like to listen to the news, money talks, jazz or comedy radio in the morning or while working… and this podcast felt like that. A good news radio spot!

I think this podcast can go well with exposure to others as well and what they are developing, since I can listen to the podcast while doing other work, instead of actually doing a search which takes away from work.

  3. I really enjoyed listening to this first podcast – thank you!

I’ve been one of those problem customers for the DB Migrate Pro plugin with my dedicated server on Media Temle – sorry Brad! But, thank you for the wonderful support and I love the work both of you do.

    • Thanks David, you’ve been a big help to us in making the plugin more robust, supporting more hosting configs. 🙂

  4. Great show. Glad to learn about Heartbeat API. Thanks.

  5. Another awesome podcast. Thumbs up.
Like your take on informational talk on Heartbeat API and seeing the potentials out of it.

Hey guys, great podcast. Definitely something I’m going to listen to on a regular basis. I can’t get enough of this sort of stuff at the moment and you are two of my go-to guys when it comes to wanting to know best practices and/or new stuff in WordPress. You also both have great products 🙂

One thing that I might point out that the heartbeat API doesn’t *stop* when a tab isn’t active, but it will be placed into an inactive mode which, by default, load every 3 minutes rather than 15 seconds. This also applies if a user stops moving the mouse for a while even if a tab is active. At the end of the day this is an ‘experimental’ API so things can change at any future point 🙂

    Love it, keep it up!

  8. Great podcast. I just recently started listening to podcasts in a sort of systematic way and I now have an android device i have dedicated to podcatching so i can listen at my desk or out on the trail.

Of the thirty or so podcasts I’ve subscribed to so far, four of them were in my keeper list, ten or so have been deleted, the rest are on probation and this on made the keep list in the first episode on my afternoon walk. Awesome chemistry, great content, none of that first show awkwardness that so many shows have. I hope you publish early and often.
